my solidfood check list.. have to put this up somewhere... nanti lupa..
also, input is appreciated

1. no instant food... kedai-kedai nestum, rusk.....tangguhkan dulu...
for first 2 mths, all will be homecooked and homeprepared... frozen and thawed...
sebabnye.. I dunno what in the packaged food.. ade gula? garam? pengawet..?

lagi satu reason
===================
Why bother with making homemade baby food? What’s wrong with baby food from a jar, anyway? Take one of these jars and look carefully at the expiration date. The substance inside has been designed to last for two years past the date of purchase. That’s not exactly the fresh that you intended to feed your baby.

The ingredients of most commercial baby foods have been heated to a very high temperature and then cooled, in order to sterilise them. This gives them a very long shelf life but destroys a lot of the flavour and some of the nutrients in the process. Also if you bring up a baby on bland processed purees such as these it can make the transition to family food difficult as they are not used to the natural taste of fruits and veg and they can become quite fussy eaters.

There is nothing wrong with giving babies prepared foods for the sake of convenience, but don’t believe these preparations are a healthier option. The healthiest baby foods are the ones you make yourself– you can be sure of using the best quality ingredients with no thickeners or additives, its cheaper than using jars and homemade purees taste so much better

. best first food

3. When can they have?....

• Gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats) - 6 months.
• Citrus fruits - 6 months.
• Well-cooked eggs - 6 to 9 months.
• Soft eggs e.g. scrambled eggs - from 1 year.
• Added salt - limited amount from 1 year.
• Sugar - limited amount from 1 year.
• Whole cow’s milk as a main drink - 1 year.
• Honey - 1 year.
• Shellfish - 1 year.
• Pate - 1 year.
• Soft or Blue cheeses - 1 year.
• Whole or chopped nuts - 5 years

to note:
-feed samething for 4 days... to detect any allergies
-add in breastmilk to rice, pureed fruit etc...
-taste first, ensure flavor sedap
-Salt may harm your baby’s kidneys and sugar will encourage a sweet tooth. A baby is not used to these tastes so will not miss them
